At Mount Rainier National Park, you can learn about glaciers, discover life in a rainforest, hike the Wonderland Trail, and explore subalpine ecology. Places to visit in Mount Rainier include the Paradise area, known for its incredible views and wildflower meadows; Longmire Area, which is the park headquarters, and features the Longmire Museum, Christine Falls, and Glacier Bridge; Sunrise Area is the highest point that can be reached by vehicle in Mount Rainier National Park, at an elevation of 6,400 feet; the Ohanapecosh Area features old growth forest of Douglas firs, western red cedars and western hemlocks, and is named for a Tidanapam Indian habitation site along the river; in the Carbon and Mowich Area, you can visit the temperate rainforest at Carbon River in the park’s northwest corner.
